The World Trade Center Complex, ie Ground Zero, from the Millenium Hilton Hotel

Ground Zero, ie World Trade Center Complex as viewed from the 30-something floor of the Millenium Hilton Hotel across Church Street. The rebuilding as viewed on February 7, 2012. It was very moving to stay at the Millenium Hilton Hotel in New York City while on a 4 week engagement for work. Every day and every night there was the constant reminder of September 11, 2011. Every day walking to my customer's site, I walked in front of "Station 10" the firehouse closest to the WTC site and which was destroyed on that day. The footprints of the former North and South Towers is called the Reflecting Absence memorial, which honors the 2986 men and women who died as a result of the terrorist attacks. Freedom Tower, otherwise known by it's address, 1 WTC, is seen here 90 stores or 1050 feet above ground. Coincidentally, it is from this height that most of those who either fell or jumped on that day, came. As of February, 2012, the latest update for the entire complex is: 1 World Trade Center Steel is now on the 90th floor, which is 1050 feet above grade. Curtain wall is up to the 70th Floor and the application of fireproofing is complete up to the 74th floor. 2 World Trade Center Core and perimeter steel are up to street level. The steel framing of the east side Transit Hall entrance is currently underway.
